African Healing Temple: Songs of the Ancient Waters
25th August
Reconnect with the Ancient Wisdom of your Womb
For those of you that know of the work of Gogo Philiswa, will know what a blessing it is to have her here in the UK.
A powerful medicine woman with so much depth. We have heard the call of you women of this island, realising our wounds and conditionings which leave us feeling disconnected, wanting to embrace our womb space and fierce feminine powers. This is an opportunity to be guided by a deeply authentic, playful and rooted medicine woman.
This will be a day filled with:
REMEMBRANCE
PURIFICATION
ANCESTRAL HEALING
EMBODIMENT
FIRE & WATER CEREMONY
& SO MUCH MORE
We invite you to a sanctuary of remembrance, to reconnect with the ancient Wisdom of your Womb, held by the medicine of traditional African, spiritual and ancestral healing arts. In a circle of sisterhood. We will chant, sing, move and journey together on the rhythm of the drum and ancestral songs, as we work with the 4 elemental powers of Water, Fire, Air and Earth.
This is an invitation to bring our inner waters in movement, cleanse, activate and invoke our healing as we pray together. We will use several natural medicines to support our healing journey such as a cacao ritual, herbs and sacred smokes, anointing oils, plant bath and spiritual baths.
This journey is guided by Gogo Philiswa Makhaye - Spiritual and Ancestral Healer from the Sangoma tradition of South Africa and Maïlé Kalokura Spiritual Healer, Shamanic Astrologer & Musician.

"Reconnect with the Ancient Wisdom of your Womb"

Who is Philiswa?
Philiswa Makhaye is an initiated and practicing traditional healer based in the south of Johannesburg, Gauteng, in Southern Africa. Born and raised in the rural areas of Pietermaritzburg, her values, principles, discipline, work ethic, and drive stem from a rich cultural background of healing within a deeply traditional family and community.
"I firmly believe that African Indigenous Knowledge Systems, cultural awareness, and self-awareness can help restore communities and bring back the dignity of not only Africa but also South Africa. Our culture and traditions can address societal ills in the country. Addressing the historic trauma of our ancestors can remind Africans of principles such as Ubuntu, particularly in these precarious times.
I am an activist advocating for the awakening of Black people, starting with topics such as childhood trauma and Umsamo. In my 16 years of experience, I have discussed how the disintegration of the African family has become the breeding ground for spiritually underdeveloped, hurt, lost, impoverished, violent, and hopeless communities. This work also contributes to bringing much-needed peace to countries currently facing religious wars, such as Congo, South Sudan, and Ethiopia.
My field of practice focuses on traditional healing, fixing Umsamo, addressing ancestral and bloodline trauma, and healing the inner child through psychology."
